Local A&R Showcase
This event features: Jetstream, Instant People, and Jessarae.

Jetstream:
The members first met while playing AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd covers at Rock Nation in Agoura, California. However, it was not long before the restless virtuosos got together to record their own music. Thus began the meteoric rise of these precocious talents, taking them across the pond to London, where they competed in the Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) World Championship—in which they finished second despite being the youngest band in the competition. A music fans continue to lamant the bygone 1970's -- progressive rock's Golden Age -- a band of local teenagers have picked up the torch that has been handed down by some of the bet rockers o the 70s. Jetstream combines the experimental nature of bands like Rush, Yes, and Led Zeppelin with a 21st centuy outlook full of angst, love and irony.

Instant People has been a long time in the making. Lead singer Ry Jarred met drummer Cal Campbell at age 18 and started their first band, Otis. Otis played to rave reviews in 2001 for their song “Hold Your Breath” (on the soundtrack of the best selling PlayStation®2 video game Splashdown). As a result, they were commissioned to write the theme song, “Forever Still,” for the feature-length animated film Ark. But as the story often goes, timing wasn't right and Otis took an indefinite break in 2005. After respective solo projects, Cal and Ry got back together, this time with Cal’s sister Ashley, and bassist Siggy Sjursen, to form their new brainchild, Instant People. They caught the attention of WME after opening for Glen Campbell’s UK Tour and are now making waves on the California coast. Smooth, melodic, soulful and fun, their EP, Songs from We Must Be Camping, is laden with sonic landscapes and driving beats. From the melodic harmonies of “The Strangest Thing” to the transcending texture of “Home,” this debut effort is a sign that the time is certainly right now for Instant People to be introduced to the world.

Jessarae (pronounced Jez-a-rae) has been noted in the music industry as one of music’s hottest emerging young talents. He began writing songs at the tender age of nine and possesses the innate gift of vivid storytelling with the ability to excite and captivate his audiences through his music just as effectively as seasoned musicians twice his age. Unlike most teenage performers, the talented 14-year old singer/songwriter doesn’t play sugary pop, opting instead for classic folk melodies delivered with equal amounts of rock, soul and groove.

Johnny Winter
For over 30 years, Johnny Winter has been a guitar hero without equal. Signing to Columbia records in 1969, Johnny immediately laid out the blueprint for his fresh take on classic blues a prime combination for the legions of fans just discovering the blues via the likes of Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Constantly shifting between simple country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson, to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock, - Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rock (a la the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd.) Throughout the '70s and '80s, Johnny was the unofficial torch-bearer for the blues, championing and aiding the careers of his idols like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.
